More Police Needed at Paceville Beach

Last night I retreated at the beach in Paceville alone for meditation, it was also a break from Macca’s - a change of environment I suppose; the tables/trays were under control at Macca’s so my assistance was not required.

While I was sitting quietly and keeping to myself I noticed a couple newly entered the beach (who positioned themselves behind me) engaging in what looked like the beginning of sexual relations; they were both very drunk and so I left them to their own means. When I turned to look back the second time I noticed the man fondling/kissing her breasts, which he was exposing and also putting his hands under her clothes – her skirt was up around her waist – and the lady was passed out and had no idea what was happening to her. What she needed was to sleep for while till the alcohol wears off, not intercourse. I thought it was time to intervene due to the fact that she was not able to give her consent.

I approached the man and began yelling at him to bring everyone's attention to what was happening in this dark corner behind fence, threatening him with police presence and to further give my statement as a witness should any attempt he makes to have intercourse with her prevail. The issue I was having with this situation was that the lady was PASSED OUT and NOT ABLE TO GIVE HER CONSENT, which constitutes rape in accordance to Maltese Law; which I had to point out to him several times as he began to argue with me in his drunken state.

I ended all arguments by making it quite clear to him that I will not be arguing with him any further; however, I will remain seated quietly nearby watching his actions very closely, as he has a responsibility to do the right thing; it will be then be up this him whether the police are called now that he has had a fair warning.

He calmed down and sobered up quite quickly and shortly after I sat back down in the near distance from the couple watching out for the girls safety like a hawk;;; he apologized out loud and approached me with another apology asking to talk to me on civil terms. He said that I have earned his respect as a result of my strong sense for justice (he mentioned that it was rare in Paceville and went on to explain that even the local police often turn a blind eye...) and that I was well within my right to bring acts of crime to his attention, which has spared him from more trouble than it's worth. He further mentioned that he was drunk and lost control of his senses and I responded with my observation of how quickly he sobered up when I mentioned the police and further reminded him that he could end up with a criminal record overnight, as I will be the one to give evidence against him without hesitation – she is not his whore, I reminded him several times!

He offered me cigarettes to make peace, which I declined as I am not a smoker, and then sat next to me and spoke like gentleman for an entire hour while waiting for the girl to wake up; who I was keeping a sharp eye on while talking to him.

THE MOST DISAPPOINTING SIGHT FOR THE NIGHT was watching men walk past (even Maltese Men) and stopping at the sight of this girl passed out on the sand ready to take advantage of her, judging by their loitering (as if someone was offering them candy).

An African man entered the beach and began passing around something in a wrapper, as I was leaving; who briefly conversed with the couple, as the girl re-gained consciousness. I didn't hand around to hear the conversation, as I left when I was sure that she was once again aware of her environment.
